AM Valkyrie LM: Straight Out Of Le Mans

I have got news, people. Being super-rich is a good thing after all. Because YOU can buy the Aston Martin Valkyrie LM and hit the most iconic race-tracks of the world. All of that without ever worrying about the logistics, transport and race-engineering. AM has tailored a service of providing the thrills of raw motorsports to anyone who is not a F1 driver or an endurance-racer already.

What’s the car again?

It’s a hypercar straight out of Le Mans. Limited to only 10 units. And built to celebrate its debut at Le Mans this weekend. A quick look at those slashes on the bodywork, the massive rear-wing and full CF bodywork will tell you that it’s in no mood for jokes. It’s near-identical to the one currently racing in the WEC and the IMSA.

Tell me about the engine and the chassis…

At the heart of it is a Cosworth-built 6.5 l NA V12 engine pushing out 697 bhp, which is regulation-limited. The chassis is full Carbon-Fiber and the car weighs just 1030 kgs. Pirelli has built bespoke tyres to meet the gruelling conditions of the track.

It’s friendli-er……

If you lean onto the side of the car and whisper, “Can we be friends?”, the car just might reply with a yes. The ballast and FIA-mandated electronics have been removed. It can accept readily-available fuel even though the owners can probably afford to bring fuel from Mars. The standard Valkyrie’s hybrid system says goodbye too. Safe to say, it is a bit more approachable.

Interior:

The interior is made with only one thing in mind: racing. It’s pure motorsports with a F1-style steering wheel and a Carbon-Fiber bucket seat. It has got a 6-point harness developed by the FIA. There’s proper race-telemetry to analyse where you can shave-off those seconds and an integrated radio communication system. Why am I thinking of F1? Help.

Why should you be interested?

Motorsport just became accessible to 10 more people. Sarcasm aside, the Valkyrie LM joins a growing trend of Ferraris and Porsches. The aim being making motorsport icons a bit more accessible. That’s not a bad thing at all as AM has taken the pain to craft a ‘Driver Development Programme’ spanning over a whole year.

Like I said, being rich is a good thing now.
