BMW M2 CS: It Comes Free with the Ducktail!

I can spend hours drooling over that ducktail spoiler. The BMW M2 CS is here to spice things up. But, are the changes enough to make it a special car? Or is this marketing at play? Let’s find out.

What’s changed?

The 3.0 twin-turbo inline-6 of the standard M2 has gained roughly 50 hp. The engine breathes motorsports as it is derived from the BMW M4 GT3 EVO racecar. It’s been working out on the track as it has lost its weight by 30 kg compared to the standard M2. The ride-height has been lowered by 8mm with bespoke tuning to its springs and dampers so that it remains stable while you attack those high-speed corners!

How do I spot one?

The ducktail spoiler is the biggest giveaway but other than that, it dons forged gold alloys, the CF rear-diffuser and the CF roof. Just look at the M2 CS badge with the red outline, will you? The design of this new M2 has grown on me and with these upgrades, it looks menacing. It can be ordered in cool bespoke colors and special mention for the Velvet Blue metallic color.

Interior?

Carbon-fiber is sprinkled everywhere to keep it light. And if you ever forget the car you are racing in, there is a CS logo on the center console, bucket-seats and an illuminated one on the doors. The interior has been largely carried over from the standard M2. Those carbon bucket-seats look straight out of a racecar.

Okay, so……?

So, the M2 CS is more inclined towards the race-track than on the road. The subtle upgrades in performance, suspension and the chassis will pay dividends on the track. If only we could spend a day at the BIC with it! One day. We keep dreaming. And drooling over that duck-tail!
