Car enthusiasts, around the world, know the Nurburgring. The full track known as the Nordschleife is dubbed Green Hell for good reason. Over the years, it has seen various deaths and crashes, adding to the legend built around the track. They can visit the track and attempt to drive it on days when it isn’t scheduled for racing as Touristenfargen. For this purpose, many take their vehicles but for those who cannot, there are Nurburgring Taxis for avid car enthusiasts. What if we told you, that one of these “Taxis” is an M340i-Matching Sedan? However, that sedan isn’t an Alfa Romeo Giulia or a Mercedes C43 AMG, it is a car developed by Hyundai.
Yes, you are reading it correctly. Hyundai, the brand known for air fresheners and questionable build quality has built a performance sedan! Say hello to the 2025 Genesis G70. You may wonder what is Genesis. It is Hyundai’s Luxury Brand designed to make appealing luxury cars rivalling the likes of Lexus, Cadillac, BMW, Mercedes-AMG etc. One of their main focus has been to attract younger buyers and for that reason, they are launching the Magma Performance brand. The Genesis G70 Ring Taxi is the result of that.
The Genesis G70 Taxi, from the get-go, is an accomplished sports sedan with a powertrain to match its sporty nature. The 3.3 Litre Twin Turbo V6 comes from the Kia Stinger GT and produces 368hp and 510 Nm of torque. It powers all four wheels via an 8 Speed Automatic Transmission. The Nurburgring Nordschleife needs no introduction and is one of the best ways for car brands to advertise their products. The German cars are tested rigorously to understand what is the best compromise between handling and comfort as the tarmac is bumpy and the corners are tricky. The track can bite where it hurts and utmost concentration is necessary to master the green hell.
When the Genesis G70 was designed to handle the fabled track, it needed to undergo some important changes. Genesis has made various suspension upgrades such as fully adjustable KW Coilover Suspension better suited for track driving, stiffer axle bearings and OZ Estrema GT Wheels which save 2.5kg per wheel. An interesting anecdote from this setup change is that track cars don’t need ridiculous amounts of power to get the best lap times or attain maximum joy! Suspension upgrades can help tackle corners better. By better we mean at a greater speed and keeps the car stable throughout!
We also need to give a special mention to the G70’s styling. It is unique compared to the traditional designs with its split headlight and tail light design. The lines are similar to the Kia Stinger GT but what adds flavour to it, is the unique Orange Colour. It is a ridiculously bright shade of orange which doesn’t shy away from the fact that this G70 is meant for a special purpose. The Nordschleife stickering also denotes the purpose of this supposed “Taxi”. We should also mention that this isn’t the only car you will see in this special livery as Genesis plans to launch the GV80 Coupe Concept, G80 Magma Special, X Gran Berlinetta Concept and GV60 Magma Concept. A stacked lineup which we can’t wait to translate into the real world.
The fees for the pleasure of riding the G70 would be 120 euros for an individual and 180 euros for a group of 3 passengers for the 20.832 km and 73 corners of madness! Be prepared to get a fair few gut punches as the professional drivers will drive, unlike anything you may have seen before. Something that will make you stomach the price of the Joyride is all the money earned will go into a social cause. Overall, we love the fact that brands are making an active effort to cater to enthusiasts. We also love the possibility of the launch of a sedan that can finally rival “The Germans”
